Mozart's Missa Brevis Series Concert-Lecture II

Subtitle

In the second installment of our five-year project, we will focus on two of Mozart's Missa Brevis compositions as he entered adulthood: K. 140 and K.194. In 1773, 17-year-old Mozart completed his Italian tour. For Mozart, who loved opera, visiting the birthplace of opera was like entering a grand garden. K.140 can be considered his expression of love for opera through religious music. Since Archbishop Colloredo became the Archbishop of Salzburg in 1772, his concept of sacred music differed greatly from his predecessor. How did Mozart manage to satisfy his patron's requirements while expressing his creativity when composing K.194 in 1774?

Let's explore these questions together at the "Mozart's Missa Brevis Series II - K.140, 194" Concert-Lecture on November 20th at 3:30 pm in Tsuen Wan St Joseph's Church.
